Wabash Electric Supply is an Indiana
Corporation founded in 1960 in Wabash, Indiana by Mr.
Jack Porter. In 1989, an employee stock ownership was
implemented which provided 33% ownership by the employees.
The company then expanded from operations in Wabash
to Warsaw, Bluffton, Fort Wayne and Elkhart. These
locations are full line electrical wholesale distributorships,
which service customers across Central, North and Northeast
Indiana. In addition, each facility has as complete
Lighting Showroom with Certified Lighting Consultants
providing the latest designs and trends in lighting.
The company employs approximately
130 individuals, has over 110,000 square feet of facilities,
19 outside sales people, a fleet of delivery vehicles
and computerized operations to service external as
well as internal customer requests.
Customer service includes, but
is not limited to, consistent and scheduled daily delivery
service via our own vehicles at no charge, delayed
scheduling of orders for J.I.T. requirements, 800 phone
service available to all customers with no minimum
order size, on site energy audits in lighting, power
factor correction, motor load conservation, and other
electrical related fields. Our Automation Solutions
Division has certified technical support personnel
to assist customers with products such as AC/DC drives,
sensor products, PLC controllers, soft start motor
controllers, safety light curtains, pressure sensitive
mats and a wide variety of PC based software programs
for information collection and man-machine interface.
In addition, our on-site training facilities allow
us to provide technical training.
The company also offers on-line
order entry, expediting and electronic data interchange
capabilities. The internal service level is maintained
at all locations by Wide Area Network of communications
which allows for sharing of current stock levels, order
status and other associated data. Our optical imaging
systems allow access over these lines for retrieval
of documents from CD-ROM files. All purchasing, accounts
payable and accounts receivable are centralized in
the Wabash facility.
Recognizing the continuous need
for advanced technological solutions and procedures,
Wabash Electric acquired an information technology
company in 2000. This addition has allowed Wabash Electric
to stay on the cutting edge of technological advances.
The Information Technology Division also continues
to provide technological services and consulting to
our current customer base and beyond.
Today, Wabash Electric continues
its' legacy of providing innovative procedures, supported
by a high level of customer support in supplying the
right product, at the right price, and in a timely
manner to our valued customers.
